The town of Albertville can be found in the Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France along the banks of the Arly River, very close to where it converges with the Isère River. The town is perhaps best known around the world for having hosted the 1993 Winter Olympics. As such, it is not surprisingly nestled in the mountains, surrounded by the Bauges, Beaufortain and the start of the Vanoise mountain ranges, making this a popular tourist destination – especially among ski enthusiasts.
While visiting Albertville, also be sure to check out the variety of 14th century buildings that are still located here. These can mainly be found in the old town section, known as Conflans, which also boasts an attractive backdrop against the mountains. Other popular outdoor activities in the region include hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking, and be sure to reserve a rental car for your visit here as well, in order to easily travel about and experience the many attractions. |
