The village of Cagnes sur Mer in France is located between Nice and Antibes on the French Riviera. Although the name “sur Mer” is loosely translated to mean “seaside,” it is actually the portion of the village that lies at the top of a hill that was formerly occupied by Romans and Greeks that gets the most attention from visitors.
Dating from the 14th through to 16th century, Chateau Grimaldi contains a magnificent internal courtyard, lovely galleries, a monumental fireplace, an impressive staircase and an intricately painted ceiling.
