Perched on a bluff overlooking the sea in the Normandy region of France, the town of Granville is located to the south of Coutances and to the north of Mont Saint Michel. Renowned for its delightful and accessible extensive beachfront, the town also boasts a stunning harbor at the entrance to the bay of Mont Saint Michel, so be sure to book a rental car and explore the entire region!
Other than the buildings making up the citadel in Granville, the town’s architectural style is perhaps best labeled “eclectic.” Be sure to check out the many impressive 19th century townhouses, as well as the churches. Perhaps the most popular are the magnificent churches of Saint Paul and Notre Dame du Cap Lihou, but a modest yet unusual protestant temple is also well worth a visit.
Granville is also well known for its flowers and plants. In fact, the town is home to the Christian Dior garden and the expansive Val es Fleur park, as well as a variety of other, smaller gardens and parks sprinkled about town. |
