La Baule is located on the Atlantic coast in the Pays de la Loire region of France. A popular, upscale seaside resort, the town was settled quite recently at the end of the 19th century when it first received a rail link. Obviously, La Baule therefore has very little historical interest, but it is a wonderful locale for sun, sea and fun – just make sure to bring a bit of extra cash to spend, as this town caters to a wealthy crowd.
While in La Baule, make the time to visit some of the original 19th century villas, which can be found hidden behind the more recent seafront developments. Still, the main attraction here is the gorgeous sandy beach, which registers at just over 8 kilometers long and boasts soft, fine sand. As you may expect, a variety of seaside activities are available, and the gently sloping beach is ideal for young children. |
