Lining a portion of the banks of the River Elorn, the town of Landerneau is situated in the Brittany region of France. Delightful shops and cafes line the banks on both sides of the river, while the bustling port area is one of the town’s main attractions.
The centre of Landerneau boasts countless streets with ancient buildings, many in the slate-fronted architectural style that is common to the region and others constructed from stunning white stone found in the area. Also of interest on many of the buildings are the rooftops, as well as a variety of niches, statues and other architectural features, so keep your eyes open as you wander through town!
The Church of Saint Houardon and the Church of Saint Thomas Becket de Canterbury are also worth a stop while visiting Landerneau, and be sure to make time for a stroll through the port, which still features traditional homes on the banks. On the northern end of town, the Keranden Manor House, the Convent of the Ursulines and the Convent of the Capucins are grander in style and also worth a visit. |
