For example, the Chateau et jardins de Saint Germain en Laye is located just 20 kilometers from Paris. A former royal residence, today it houses the Musee des Antiquities Nationales, but the gardens are the perfect place to spend a sunny afternoon (or two)! Also of interest nearby, the stunningly modern Villa Savoye a Poissy was built between 1928 and 1931 and is easily one of the most recognizable examples of the International Style of architecture. In addition, be sure to pay a visit to the Chateau de Maisons Lafitte. Dating to 1630, it is an excellent example of the French baroque style of architecture.
