The community of Mantes-la-Jolie is located in the western suburbs of Paris in the Île-de-France region of north-central France, around 50 kilometers from the city’s centre. This is an excellent place from which to explore the many significant attractions and monuments that are located throughout the region, so be sure to reserve a rental car for your visit.
While in Mantes-la-Jolie, be sure to check out the magnificent, Gothic-style 12th century cathedral of Notre-Dame, as well as the many squares, parks and garden areas that are free and open to the public. Also of note, the surrounding department of Yvelines boasts a variety of historic architectural and artistic monuments, including the 17th century Maisons-Lafitte castle, the 15th century Chateau de la Madeleine XIV, the Chateau de Versailles and the Port-Royal-des-Champes abbey. In addition, the Chevreuse High Valley Regional Nature Park encompasses more than 25,000 hectares in the southeastern portion of the department. |
