The town of Metz can be found on the east bank of the River Moselle, between Strasbourg and Paris in the Lorraine region of France. The city dates back to pre-Christian times and has often been forced to fight for its freedom throughout the centuries. Today, the city is a popular tourist destination and is renowned or its stunning yellow Pierre de Jaumont limestone architecture.
Metz is often called “The Green City,” thanks to its claim of boasting 270 square feet of park, playground or garden per in habitant. Also of note, the St. Etienne Gothic cathedral features gorgeous stained glass windows designed by Marc Chagall, while the Notre Dame de Metz church was built in the Jesuit style in 1576.
