Located in the Bourgogne region of eastern France, Montchanin was known as Montchanin-les-Mines until 1958, but today it has grown to encompass the nearby communities of Saint-Laurent-d’Andenay and Saint-Eusebe. Modern-day Montchanin lies in the Saone-et-Loire department of Burgundy, between the Saone and Loire rivers.
The entire region is popular among tourists, so be sure to reserve a rental car for your visit! Wine connoisseurs especially will delight in the selection of vineyards here – a tradition that can be traced back all the way to the second century CE. The red Burgundies that are created in the region are made from ancestral Pinot Noir grapes, while the equally delicious white wines are produced using Chardonnay grapes. The climate here is defined by hot summers and cold winters, so keep that in mind when planning your trip. Montchanin is situated in one of the most heavily populated parts of the region, creating a wide variety of attractions and activities that are sure to delight any traveler. |
