The city of Porto Vecchio is located near Figari on the island of Corsica in the Corse-de-Sud department of France and today is a popular tourist destination. It is also a perfect base from which to explore the entire region – from the pristine beaches to the imposing mountain peaks – so be sure to reserve a rental car for your trip!
While visiting Porto Vecchio be sure to pay a visit to the nearby prehistoric ruins, including the site of Torre, which can be dated to the Bronze Age and features a number of interesting circular stone citadels. Also in the immediate area, the village of Ceccia boasts a variety of prehistoric sites, but Castellu di Tappa and Castellu d’Araghju remain the most popular of the Bronze Age structural ruins here. The beaches at Porto Vecchio are also second to none, especially Palombaggia Beach, the old town and the harbor area. |
