At just over 90 kilometers from the city of Marseille and only 130 kilometers from Nice, the small town of Ste. Maxime is located on the Mediterranean Sea in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region of southeastern France just above the gulf of Saint-Tropez. In fact, a ferry services continuously runs between the two locales, while the Massif des Maures mountain range offers the town protection from the elements and strikingly beautiful views.
As you may imagine, outdoor adventure is quite plentiful here, from hiking in the mountains to swimming and relaxing on one of the pristine beaches, there is something for everyone. Also, be sure to pay a visit to the 15th century chateau, which functions as a town hall today, as well as the 16th century Tour Carree, which once helped to defend the town and today serves as a popular historic attraction and a reminder of Ste. Maxime’s medieval past. |
