Situated in the north of Schleswig-Holstein, the town of Bad Oldesloe is easily located by car from the local airport. The town is not to be confused with the local municipality of the same name.
With a heritage dating back to the Mesolithic times, there is plenty to explore. Many galleries and cultural centres offer a unique insight into the fascinating history of the town, and the Holy Ghost Quarter – the oldest part of the Old Town – is particularly fascinating. Be sure to check the town hall, which was built by renowned Danish architect Christian Frederik Hansen in the nineteenth century.
The house of St. Ansgar, the northernmost German Benedictine monastery, is today a modern educational and conference hotel that proves a great retreat and for more natural diversions, the Salt Lake Park is ideal for glimpses of flora and fauna. Additionally, the Castle Flower Village is another star attraction. |
