Easily accessible along the A81 and B27, Balingen is close to Lake Constance as well as the Black Forest. Blessed with some of the finest weather in Germany, it has recently undergone something of a facelift in the centre, with a well designed new centre now leading to the classic street Stadtgrundriß. The main street of Friedrichstrasse offers an array of interesting shops and restaurants, as well as beer gardens and bistros. At the central fountain, you will find children playing to their hearts’ content on summer days.
Be sure to look at the affectionately named ‘Little Venice’, one of the prettiest parts of the town as well as the old church and the waterfall nearby. There are also many opportunities for hiking and biking around the town along the paths near to Albtrauf. The annual Balingen culture festival in the summer time also attracts international and national artists. |
