There are many sights of interest in terms of culture and history in the city of Bonn; as the birthplace of Beethoven, it is a ‘must-see’ on any trip to Germany. Centred around the Altstadt centre, you are spoilt for choice by the wealth of attractions on offer. These include the Bonn Museum Mile with its romantic views of the Rhine. August Macke Haus, which was the home of a famous local painter, is also worth a look.
The impressive Rheinsteig walk is home to many lovely paths as well as forest land and vineyards. From the Rheinsteig you can also take in the views of the castles, palaces and cultural monuments. Along the path, you can stop for a fresh kolsch beer or any number of delicacies in one of the numerous pubs and beer gardens. You can also try some of the traditional-style bistros for some coffee or a cake. With so much rich tradition, Bonn is a wonderful stop on your exploration of Germany. |
