Emmelshausen is home to a range of cultural and educational activities which capture the essence of rural German life. The Agricultural History Museum, which is situated in a rebuilt and restored farmhouse from the seventeenth century, contains an insight into the lives of farmers, including a rebuilt spinning room. In another part of the museum, traditional crafting skills are showcased including basket weaving and shoemaking.
The Reichsburg Cochem is an unmissable feature of Emmelshausen’s landscape; this imposing Gothic structure stands close to the Moselle hill and is one of the most exciting features of this historic town. The late Gothic structure with is unforgettable silhouette stands more than 100 m above the Moselle on a striking cone-shaped hill. Qualified castle guides lead you around the most beautiful rooms and bring the history of the castle closer to you. The Hematfest is one of the highlights of the social calendar in Emmelshausen, and occurs around the end of each year. |
