Close to Stuttgart, Esslingen is in the region of Baden-Württemberg. An ancient city with its roots in the 9th century, there are many places of interest to visit here. The Yellow House Museum offers exhibitions showing Esslingen’s development from the Middle Ages to present day; particularly interesting here is the important part Esslingen has traditionally played in the wine trade. The Museum of St. Denis displays some excellent examples of archaeology and the JF Schreiber Museum – with its selection of picture books and paper theatres – is a must for book lovers.
Esslingen also has a significant attachment to music, and a well-renowned music school. As a result, there are many opportunities to enjoy a range of different types of music at the local halls and bars, from classical music to contemporary jazz. The thriving performing arts scene is also another diversion, with regular performances of cabaret and theatre sure to please. |
