Fuerth (Fürth) is a small and vibrant city offering many great opportunities for exploring culture and the arts, as well as sports. It is home to two thousand monuments, which is the highest proportion of mouments in a city in the whole of Bavaria. With so much on offer, it takes time to explore the city properly and is worth an extended break. Some must-sees include the Jewish Museum, the Broadcasting Museum and the Municipal Theatre. The Jewish Museum of Franconia in was opened in July 1999 by Federal President Johannes Rau and is also worth looking at.
For walkers, the ideal tour starts at the Church of St. Michael which is the oldest church in the whole city and is dated to the fifteenth century. The Sandsteinschloss Burgfarrnbach in one of the few neo-classical castles of Bavaria, and this impressive construction is one of the landmarks of Fuerth. The two avenues from the Belle Epoque are stunning examples of the city’s layout; elegant residences traditionally used by the wealthy bourgeoisie. Fuerth is also well known for its pubs, inns and restaurants and has a variety to suit all palettes including Frankish; be sure to try the fish restaurants. |
