Founded in 744, Fulda is home to many attractions and artistic treasures from an over 1250-year history. This is shown in the baroque Cathedral and Romanesque St. Michael’s Church, which are just two of the highlights of the town. The Royal Palace is a spectacular highlight of the town’s architecture and a home to many interesting cultural artifacts. Additionally, tourists can observe the beautifully restored half-timbered buildings, flowered gardens and parks and cafes.
The Fulda Museum is home to a wide selection of relics and sacred vessels, and the spacious gardens that surround the building are perfect for an afternoon walk. The Orangery Terrace is also particularly interesting for a walk. Built by Maximilan vonWelsch, it has many beautiful fountains, grottos, pools and gardens with oak, lime and chestnut trees. There are regular flower and horticultural shows in Fulda, which makes it an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle for nature lovers and horticulture enthusiasts. |
