Said to have inspired some of the work of poets and musicians including Franz Schubert for its famous Trout Well, Geislingen is a charming town situated in the southern province of Baden Wurttenberg. Traditionally an industrial centre, it is also a fine example of small town Germanic culture. The City Hall is a good starting point for exploring the town, and the many sculptures dotted around the city are an indication of its heritage.
The exciting cultural scene includes the Geislinger Singkreis, which gives regular choir performances. The local Cultural Society regularly invites internationally and nationally acclaimed artists to perform there. A particular cultural hub is the Rätschenmühle theatre in the old slaughterhouse, which has a nationally recognized cabaret programme. Throughout the year, Geislingen is host to several festivals and shows programmes encouraging adult education. The Geislingen Museum is also another cultural highlight, and has a 28 m long scale model of the city. |
