Located in Westphalia and in some of the most beautiful countryside in the Ruhr region, Hagen is home to many points of interest for visitors and tourists. Boasting a strong economy, it is easily reached from several of Germany’s Autobahn routes including the A1, A45 and A46. Some of the highlights include the Museum of Prehistory and Early History and the Osthaus Museum; indeed, the city also administers the prestigious Osthaus prize for Poetry.
The Castle Hohenlimburg, the only preserved hilltop castle in Westphalia, is within easy access of Hagen by car and is ideal for a day out. For exploring the city on foot, the Art Quarter is particularly inviting; pretty streets, shops, cafes and bistros are sure to keep you entertained. Other must sees include the Old Synagogue and the Public Observatory. This gives views of the beautiful countryside in the surrounding areas, which are also great for hiking and Nordic walking. |
