Hanover is a lively and cosmopolitan city boasting some beautiful sites. Situated in the Lower Saxony region of Germany, it has traditionally been an industrial centre; this means that there are many trade fairs recurring throughout the year. These often occur in and around the city’s economic capital of Messegelande.
However, apart from this Hanover is also home to many other captivating sites. These include the charming Old Town, the Lake Maschsee and the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen. The Grobe Gardens are particularly inviting, with the scenery inside home to beautiful baroque gardens. Hannover’s State Opera House and Playhouse (Schauspielhaus) are some of the most well respected venues for the performing arts in the whole of Germany. The Volksen district of Springe is also home to the notable landscaped parks on the edge of the Desiter Hills, which are also perfect for exploring on foot. The Hanover Zoo is also one of the most well known in Germany and great all-round family entertainment. |
