Easily accessed by car from several of the main networks on the Autobahn motorway, Nuremberg is situated in West Franconia. The city is perhaps most famous as the location for the notorious political rallies during the 1930s and 1940s, and again for the trials that took place after the Second World War. While these happenings have ensured that Nuremberg is well-trodden on the tourist map, there are many alternative pursuits that visitors can enjoy here. These include the impressive Nuremberg Castle and also the beautifully designed National Museum.
As Nuremberg is also host to many music festivals throughout the year, including the Rock In The Park festival and the Bardentreffen World Music Festival it is also ideal for music enthusiasts. The Nuremberg State Theatre is also an excellent visit, hosting a variety of performances throughout the year and, a highlight for children, the Puppet Theatre Festival. Foodies should try the local dish, the "Drei im Weggla", but beware; it is not for vegetarians! |
