Oranienburg is an ancient town with an impressive history which makes it the ideal stop for tourists. Located close to Berlin, while it is less famous than its bigger brother it is home to a vibrant cultural mix. It is within very convenient access from Berlin via the A10, the North-South Highway 96 an the East-West Highway 273, Tegel Airport is also only approximately twenty minutes away. It is also easily accessed from the S-Bahn.
Oranienburg enjoys a strong reputation as a home of Opera; as such, visitors are recommended to visit one of the many venues for this dotted around the city centre. The Orangery is particularly recommended for spending an afternoon, while the St. Nicolai Church is a highlight for history enthusiasts. The extensive canal network, is also well worth exploring; there are links to Havel and Oder-Havel Canals which make for a fun and unusual day out. |
