Verden is a city in the northern German state of Niedersachsen and is particularly well known for its equestrian history and horse breeding; indeed, there are international races in the town all year round. Lying to the east of Aller, Verden is home to many spectacular buildings and a dramatic scenic view. Aside from this, the town offers a wide variety of amenities, bars and cafes. The Botanical Gardens, University the Glacis Park are just some of the exceptional attractions to be seen in the town. The Lutheran and St. Mary Cathedral are two other highlights.
There are many opportunities for hiking and biking around the city, including up to the Lüneburger Heide, a heath, as well as the Aller bike path which follows the river. Similarly, the Kirchen and Wümme bike paths and parks Heidepark Soltau, Vogelpark Walsrode, and the Magic Park are alternatives for outdoor pursuits. The many fine restaurants offer the chance to try some of the local delicacies. |
