Walsrode is situated on the Luneburg Heath, and as such is afforded some spectacular views of the Germanic countryside. It was originally founded from its monastery by Earl Walo. Since the nineteen eighties, Walsrode has undergone something of a facelift and is now a bustling modern town. Twinned with the East Germany city of Gernrode, it has some exceptional amenities for visitors.
With many quaint historical and modern charms on offer, some of the highlights for visitors include the Heide Museum which houses a range of exhibitions. Walsrode is also privy to opportunities for leisure and recreation; the Klostersee is a particularly beautiful example of the local architecture. The Fuldepark Gigs is also another area which is home to some beautiful scenery which is ideal for visitors to enjoy. There are many opportunities for Bird Watching around the area, and the villages offer a variety of alternatives for dining options. |
