The Kunstmuseum is a great area for teaching and contemporary art, showing a wide variety of collections from different areas of Germany. The castle, which was the seat of nobility from the early fourteenth century onwards, is a fine example of the peculiarities of local architecture. From 1974 the Municipal Gallery of Art was opened, and its exhibits are constantly on rotation.
