Close to Asia Minor, Kos is easily reached by plane from Athens and Rhodes, or boat from the Piraens and the Cyclades. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times. The climate and gorgeous beaches are some of the highlights of a trip to Kos. It is also an excellent place to drive; you can take advantage of coastal roads to visit the many resorts that dot the island. Kardamena is about forty minutes from Kos town and it contrasts heavily with Kefalos, which is very laid back.
Kos town is the most bustling area of the island and is a good spot for wandering around on foot. The bar street has great entertainment and you can check out local brew houses including Heart Rock, Saloon Tex and Cactus – a great way to sample some of the famous Greek hospitality. The young, fun-loving visitors Kos tends to attract means that partying is a way of life here – so be sure to take your dancing shoes with you. |
