The capital city of the island of Lesbos, Mytilini is a stunning place to visit and has plenty to offer tourists. The waterfront is one of the liveliest parts of Mytilini and the town really comes alive here in the evening. Here, you can see some of the many boats that are moored. The marketplace offers a pleasant bustle which evokes the charm of modern day Greece and it is a great place to find and try some of the local cuisine. In this area, you will find one of the best restaurants in town – Strays – which offers a variety of good fish dishes at reasonable prices.
There are many places of interest in Mytilini, and hiring a car will make it much easier to explore. The Theophilos and Teriade Museums are particular highlights, containing impressive artefacts from bygone eras.
