Grenada Island is a gorgeous rain forested landscape. There are some superb beaches in this part of the world as well as great scuba diving and aqua-adventure activities for those with families. St George’s, the largest town, has one of the most beautiful waterfronts in all of the Caribbean. Stone buildings, forts from a forgotten time and houses of all colours meld into the hills. Carriacou, Grenada’s neighbour, is also a step back in time. With a cadence a notch or two slower then Grenada Island, this petite isle is a relaxed affair where locals and their unique life is added to gorgeous scenery. Petit Martinique is a similarly laid-back part of the country – perfect for total relaxation.

The forest scenery and the interior of the volcanic islands are what make it such a charming and welcoming part of the world. The capital, St. George's, is widely held to be the loveliest city in the Caribbean. One of the island's best beaches is considered to be at Grand Anse; another is at Levera Bay near the island's northern tip. The island is home to many of the most spectacular beaches in the whole of the Caribbean and a vast expanse of wonderful underwater coral reefs. The beaches on neighbouring Morne Rouge are stunning, as are the deserted beaches on the southern coast. Levera Bay is also popular as a surfing spot. Well worth exploring are the Grand Etang National Park and Forest Reserve which contain numerous marked trails. There are also many unusual local festivals which take place throughout the year in Grenada; it is also recommended to try some of the local rum and spices from the old plantations – which generally use traditional methods to create their products.
