Situated in Vicenza province in the Northern part of Italy, Bassano del Grappa’s most famous export is the liquor bearing its name. Other cities in the region include Padova and Verona. It is viewed by the many tourists who visit annually as a picture perfect example of an Italian town.
Trying Grappa is a ‘must’ during a stay here. There are several excellent pubs, such as the Tetley Pub, as well as bars in which you can do so although the famous tasting room, the Poli, comes especially recommended. Other points of interest for visitors include the Museum, which houses interesting artefacts from around the area. Bassano del Grappa is also ideal for walking, and you can follow several routes around the town which take in the traditional buildings which still bear the history of the Hapsburgs. The wooden bridge in the centre, which was built in the sixteenth century, is a particular scenic highlight and from it you can enjoy views of the river. |
