Cagliari is situated in Sardinia, and offers one of the best glimpses into Sardinian culture in the whole province. It has benefitted from swift urban development in the late twentieth century and now has a good road network. With its coastal location, you can sunbathe at the many beaches around the town. As it is serviced by its own international airport, this makes travelling here particularly easy although hiring a car will prove extremely useful for travelling to surrounding villages such as Budoni.
Cagliari is characterized by strong Art Nouveau influence in its infrastructure, which can be seen in the Basilica di San Sammino and the Castello in the Old City area. The Marina area is a vibrant hub of the town, and here you can find lots of options for clubbing and bar-hopping. Shopping in Cagliari is a particular highlight, with plenty of authentic Sardinian antiques, handicrafts and ceramics for sale in some of the many boutiques around town. |
