Follonica is found in the Grosseto area of Tuscany, and can be easily accessed by car from the Aurelia highway number SS1 running from Rome. Follonica is also easily accessible from Turin and not far from Pisa and La Spezia. It is also close to the Italian border with France. Some of the main attractions in Follonica include the Church of San Leopoldo. One of the best times to visit the town is during the Grey Cat Jazz Festival July which is when it really comes to life. Also worth checking out, regardless of the time of year you visit, is the Technological and Archaelogical Park of Colline Metallfiere Grossetane.
Recommended restaurants include the Oasi, which provides traditional Italian fare, and the Scalo del Granduca. There is also a great choice of hotels to suit all tastes and budgets, from the Parrini to the Hotel Sabbatino. |
