Formia is one of the scenic towns close to Rome and certainly worth a day trip. Situated close to the Mediterranean coast, it is within driving access of the Appian Way which is an excellent automotive route. Formia is easily accessed from Rome. Some particular highlights of a trip to Formia include the ancient Roman fishery, which is an impressive landmark and interesting for visiting on foot. The harbour is also particularly impressive, as is the Tomb of Cicerone.
A great time to visit Formia is during late June, which is when the annual festival is held. A street carnival, it is held on the South Gionvanni Chiesi street. Some recommended restaurants include the Coffeehouse, which as the name suggests serves excellent coffee and also some light bites, as well as full meals. Formia is also home to some excellent shopping amenities, such as the Arcade on Via Viturio, which has an impressive range of chain and boutique stores for all eventualities. |
