Imperia is a delightful coastal city which is within driving access of Genoa. A car is particularly useful for negotiating the area and touring to other cities in the province as well as further down the coast. Sites of interest in Imperia include the Porto Maurizio, the Old Town and the Convent. There is also a host of other Naval attractions in the surrounding areas. With its strong tradition of olive oil production, the restaurant scene in Imperia is particularly well regarded and there are some excellent trattorias for sampling local delicacies. Some of the architectural highlights include the Public Library, which is a magnificent building and a local landmark.
The Civic Art Gallery and the Teatro Cavour are some of the other interesting attractions in Imperia. As the city is particularly well known for its cultivation of flowers and aquatic events, you can also expect to indulge in some of these interests whilst here. |
