Situated close to Bologna along the A14 and Foranovia by the A25, Pescara is an inviting stopping point for visitors. Close to the Adriatic Sea, it enjoys the many recreational and leisure aspects of its situation including windsurfing and diving. As the city grew out of the ruins of a sixteenth century fortress, there is a lot to see and do for history buffs; indeed, ot was the birthplace of renowned Italian poet Gabriele D’Annuzzio.
The Spanish influence in Pescara can be seen in buildings as you wander round the city, particularly the Cathedral. One particular highlight is the Eco Museum, which is located on the Via Del Barracker. Similarly, the Museum of Modern Art is home to an impressive selection of works by Italian artists. Having a car when travelling in Pescara is particularly recommended, as it means that visitors can easily take a day-trip to the surrounding scenery including the Valley of Abruzzo. |
