One of the best known Italian tourist hot spots for its notorious tower, Pisa is a firm favourite for worldwide visitors. Aside from the leaning tower, Pisa is a quiet and attractive town that makes for an ideal daytrip from Florence. These include the Knights’ Square and the Botanical Gardens. The various historical quarters are home to several beautiful Catholic structures including the Churches of St. Francis, Santa Maria and Santa Nicola.
For culture vultures, why not try the Museum del Duomo – a great insight into this wonderful aspect of Italian music. For a real sweet treat, the pastries at the Salaza Borgo Stretto are also highly recommended – for expensive but delectable treats. A perfect break from the hustle and bustle of larger Italian cities. To get to Pisa, you can easily reach it along the SS1 and from the A11 road close to Genoa. |
