Situated in Sicily and the capital of the province of Ragusa, the city is a great example of Sicilian heritage and its inhabitants are also wonderfull hospitable. From the starting point in the centre, the main points of interest inclue the gorgeous baroque architecture. The Church of the Souls of the Purgatory is a highlight. Other impressive buildings include Mary’s College, which was built in the eighteenth century.
Hiring a car is great for taking day trips into the Iblei Mountains; from there you can observe some spectacular scenery. There are some lovely views of the surrounding areas including the San Leonardo. The Archaelogical Museum, in the centre of the old bridge, is another highlight for visitors. The Donnafugata Castle is also home to some beautiful views. To get to Ragusa, you can take the 8E route from Sicily, and also the E45 and SS194. |
