Situated in Emilia Romagna, Ravenna can be reached on the E45 from Bologna. It is also within convenient access of Venice, as well as bordering Bologna and Ferrara in the north. You can also reach it along the A21 from Turin to Piacenza.
Ravenna’s rich history as the ‘capital of the mosaic’ includes eight monuments which are marked as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The most popular areas for tourists visiting in Ravenna are the Marinara port and the Spa Punta Marina Terme, which is easily accessible by car. Aside from this, you can also check out the Piazza Del Popolo, the National Museum, the Mausoleum of Galla Placida and the many Baroque-style church, the Santa Maria Maggiore.
One of the best times to visit Ravenna is during the Ravenna Jazz Festival, which usually takes place in July and lasts for three days. It also plays host to the International Organ Music Festival each year. |
