Syracuse is located in the Southern part of Italy and as a result enjoys year-round fantastic temperatures. From the pretty and quaint old town area to the notable attractions including the Archaeological Museum, Syracuse is a particularly good base for visiting the South and East corners of Sicily, including the Baroque towns of Ragusa and Noto – which are within easy access by car.
Other sites include the Latonia Del Paradiso Theatre, the Grotta dei Cordari and the Catacombs of San Giovanni. The many notable religious buildings include the Basilica di Santa Lucia. Some of the restaurants in the town that have been recommended include the La Siciliana which is a quality pizzeria; you might also want to check out the Archeme on Via Memmella. Other recommended areas of the town for visitors include the Piaza della Vittoria and the Foro Siracusano – excellent anecdotes from all the history, should this be required! |
