Sorrento is situated in Campania in the southern part of Italy. It is perhaps considered most famous for inventing Limoncello. Aside from this Sorrento is also well known for its literary heritage – indeed, the famous Italian poet Aniello Califano was born and raised here. Its ceramic production is well known in the country and makes excellent products.
For those interested in history, good starting points for exploring Sorrento are the Archaeological Museum and the Cathedral of Philip and James. The Correale Museum, which is housed in a spectacular nineteenth century Museum, is a brilliant insight into Sorrento’s past. Sorrento can be amenably accessed by car; one of the most simple routes is the A3 from Naples. You can also take a spin up to the nearby beaches. With the bay of Naples close by, too, you can similarly enjoy spectacular views of the landscape and the beautiful Italian scenery |
