Spoleto is considered one of the most captivating towns in the whole of Umbria, and after spending a few days here you will easily see why. Spoleto lies seventy-eight kilometres to the North of Rome, and makes a pleasant change of scene from the hustle and bustle of the bigger city. Some of the most interesting sites in the town include the Duomo – or Town Square – which is generally most easily accessible by foot. The Lower Town is the most populated, and it is here that the majority of the restaurants and bars are located.
From Perugia, drivers can take the A1 Autostrada which is ninety minutes to the east of the city. Similarly you can take the SS75 from Assisi to Spoleto. Attractions include the Rocca Albornoiana, the Piazza Del Mercato and the Casa Romana. Because of its vibrant arts scene, visitors can also enjoy the regular festivals that are hosted in and around Spoleto. Indeed, recent festivals have included such respected artists as Jose Perez. |
