Trento is situated in the Northern Province of the same name, and is an idyll for those wishing to experience the true Italian lifestyle. The name ‘Trento’ itself comes from the three beautiful mountains that surrounds it – the Bondona, Calisa and Marzola mountains. While not particularly well known for mass tourism, Trento is a lovely town that encapsulates the spirit of all things Italian. Of the attractions for visitors, particularly interesting are the Airforce Museum (or ‘Gianni Capriori’). You can also explore the Church of Santa Maria easily by foot.
As the city also lies close to the River Cembra, this again allows easy access to the Dolmites and Lake Garda for day trips, and also larger cities including Verona and Venice. The vibrant cultural scene thrives on its galleries, which include the Gallery Piecicasstello the Foundation Civic Gallery. Trento is easily accessible from the SS47 as well as the A22 and E45 roads to Verona. You can also use it as a base to explore other areas in Europe, such as Munich. |
