In many ways, Venice needs little introduction – the world’s only pedestrian city has been attracting holidaymakers for generations. With six hundred years of history, Venice is comprised of narrow footpaths that circulate its famous waterways. The many landmarks include Saint Mark’s Basilica and Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari Churches. Other historical attractions include the Jewish Ghetto Museum and the Ca’Pesano Gallery. The Glass Museum and Goldoni’s House are also well worth visiting.
Another must-see area of the town is the Rialto and the Rialto Bridge. It is also recommended to try out a Gondola or Vaporetto (water bus). Day trips to the islands close to Venice are a diversion from the streets. Other day trips include to La Garda and Jesolo beach, which is forty-five minutes away from the city by car and one of Italy’s most important beaches. For food, visitors will stumble across many enticing restaurants all over the town to suit all palettes |
