Made famous by Shakespeare to British audiences, Verona is a lovely city situated in Veneto province; it is therefore not surprising that it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Indeed, Verona was also Leonardo da Vinci’s home town.
Verona’s airport lies approximately five kilometres from the south of the city and is ideal for access by car. It is also convenient for access to Vicenza. The ancient Roman architecture extends from te Basilica of San Zeno Maggiore to the surrounding areas. Some highlights for visitors include the Museum of Castelvecchio Boggian. The Avena is also one of the most famous landmarks in the area. Be sure to check out the Fresco Museum, which is close to the famous Juliet’s tomb.
Some recommended restaurants include the 12 Apostles on Corticella San Marco, which offers traditional Veronese dishes, and the Fresco museum. |
