Vieste is swiftly developing as a significant tourist attraction in Italy’s tourism landscape. The Baroque influence in the architecture and style of the housing is particularly strong and lends an interesting feel to just wandering around here. The historical centre of the town is home to ancient timber structures, including the hundred year-old ‘Trabucco’ as well as the Swabian Castle which is one of the main focal points of the town. It is worth taking a look at the Santa Maria di Merino, which is located near the Cathedral and on a beach between Vieste and Pechici. Notable events on the social calendar of Vieste include the Film Festival and the Festival of San Giorgio.
Hiring a car provides for easy access to the Umbra Forest. For another day-trip, visitors can check out the Remiti Island which comes out of the Adriatic. You can also take a trip to the grottos surrounding the town by boat – a great alternative diversion. |
