Located in Catalonia, Badalona is situated close to Barcelona and is ideal for a few days’ stop on your car journey. One of the oldest cities in the region, it has some spectacular views of mountain landscape and it also enjoys a favourable climate. One of the most important keystones during Spain’s industrialization, this cultural heritage is born out in the buildings dotting the city. One of the most impressive for tourists is the Zorilla Theatre, which went through a period of extensive remodelling between the nineteen sixties and nineteen nineties.
As with most cities in Spain, there is a vibrant festive atmosphere in Badalona, particularly on the music scene. The celebration of Saint Anastasi, which occurs in May, is one of the cultural highspots for locals. As the ‘Cradle of Basketball’, Badalona is particularly favoured by the locals; visitors can watch the local teams at one of the many sporting facilities in town, the highlight of which is the Municipal Sports Palace or Palau Municipal d'Esports. |
