The historical city of Bilbao offers a variety of exciting opportunities for leisure activities. A walk from the Medieval Old Town is a particularly good starting point for exploring the city; you can also admire the Puente de la Merced, which is the bridge with an original design by Ernesto Hoffmeyer in the late nineteenth century. The former convent, the Iglesia de la Lerced, which was built in the 1670s and is another high point for visitors; today, it has been completely restored and is the home of the Bilborock musical theatre.
Other points of interest include the St. Anthony Church, which was built on the ruins of the old Alcazar city in the late fourteenth century. This Gothic structure remains one of the most interesting buildings in Bilbao. For art lovers, the Sacred Art Museum exhibits work from the Biscay area, including sculptures and paintings, as well as a magnificent silver collection. |
