Found in the Alicante area of Spain, Calpe is a beautiful town with a rich heritage that is sure to entertain visitors of all tastes. Traditionally a fishing port, it has developed into a modern beach town with a satisfying range of amenities. The cuisine on offer reflects the international flavour – from Lebanese to German food, there is something for every palette. The ancient streets of the old town are particularly inviting for an afternoon stroll, and reflect the period when Moors and Christians were both living in the area.
There are also some interesting remains dating back to the time of the Iberian tribes. For those interested in hiking, a trip to the top of the Penon de Ifach – a rock which rises three hundred and thirty two metres out of the Mediterranean – will provide you with the chance for a particularly impressive view of the surrounding area. This includes the beautiful sandy beaches, which you can also relax in to your hearts’ content. |
