The town of Estartit was founded in the eighteenth century and has its roots in the fishing industry. A very family orientated resort town, it has a host of amenities to suit tourists. As such, visitors can expect a range of activities to suit and with particular focus on pleasing the foreign market. Brits travelling will feel right at home with the British style pubs that dot the area; however, for nocturnal activities, nearby Lloret de Mar is perhaps more lively for clubbing and bar life.
Some of the best restaurants in town are located in the harbour area, where you will find a host of traditional Catalan style restaurants. In particular, Les Salines is renowned for the freshness and quality of its seafood so this is a particular recommendation. Some points of interest for visitors include the Museum, which has some interesting audiovisual displays encapsulating the Mediterranean spirit and conducts many cultural, musical and social events throughout the year. |
