Formentera is a small and pretty island which is often overlooked in favour of its neighbour, Ibiza. However, Forementera has a quiet charm that is all its own. With its flat land and beautiful, unspoilt beaches, must-dos on the island include cycling, walking, snorkelling and sailing although there are very few cultural or historical attractions aside from the Roman Road, watchtowers and the Chaperl of Saint Franscesco Xavier and the Small Ethnological museum.
The beautiful beaches give way to pine tree forests and marshes. Board walks through the sand dunes are also possible. It is also possible to swim in the two large lagoons, the Estany de Peix and Estany Pudent, and also to rent boats to tour the harbour or to go fishing. The wide network of cycle tracks and green lanes around the beach areas are also guaranteed to provide an afternoon of fun and relaxation. |
